A young star fades

Last week Eric Medlen, a second-generation racer who was attracted by cars and speed since childhood died in a testing accident in Florida. John Force, a legend of this sport helped Eric a lot, protected, grew up with him, and put him in the seat of one of his Funny Car. Medlen was very respected by his fans, well - liked, young and handsome, he had everything. He was extremely good, very fast, almost perfect, nothing could stop him. He represented the future of drag racing, the younger and the older fans could really relate to him, and believed in him.
His father John was one of the successful racers and was very charming, the older fans had another reason to stay tuned and follow the events of this sport. Imagine loosing Kasey Kahn, Denny Hamlin or Kyle Busch. This young star would have been at least as good as any of them.
This kind of accidents could happen any time, the racers that entertain us are truly heroes putting their lives in danger racing cars at 340 mph or at a lower speed of 200 mph when driving just inches apart one another. They choose to do it because they love it and are skilled.
We are living through them the emotions and the unique pleasure given by the speed. Eric knew just like everyone else that there are millions of watchers, in the stands or at home watching the television and feeling something special because of their daring.
The world misses you Eric Medlen!
